The PlayStation 5 version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will launch alongside its western release on March 2, 2021 in Japan, publisher Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced.

In Japan, the PlayStation 5 version is titled Ryu ga Gotoku 7: Hikari to Yami no Yukue International (Yakuza: Like a Dragon International). Like the western release, it will include both English and Japanese voice-overs. Other benefits over the initial PlayStation 4 release include shorter load times, 60 frames per second frame rate, 4K resolution graphics, some paid downloadable content included on the disc (“Premium New Game” and “Super Final Millennium Tower”), and a few trophy adjustments.

Unlike the west, users who own Yakuza: Like a Dragon for PlayStation 4 in Japan will not be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version free of charge. Save data and downloadable content from the PlayStation 4 version are also not compatible with the PlayStation 5 version.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon first launched for PlayStation 4 in December 2019 in Japan. In the west, the game launched for Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on November 10.
