The BlazBlue series turned 10 years old today. The first entry in the fighting game franchise, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, was released in Japanese arcades on November 20, 2008.

The series’ 10th anniversary website was also updated today with a message from creator Toshimichi Mori, which seems to tease a new title in development.

“For everyone looking forward to BlazBlue in the future, I hope to once again return to the feelings I had 10 years ago [when BlazBlue started] and impart the memories of battle into a new BlazBlue…” Mori said. “Specifically, with things like BlazBlue: Alternative Dark War [for smartphones] and ‘[Redacted] [Redacted]Blue (Temporary).’ Please look forward to them.”

The way Mori teases the new title is a bit difficult to put into English, but the Japanese is “○○ッ○○○○・○○○○ブルー.” Each ○ would be one Japanese character, and the ッ indicates a lengthened consonant for the following letter.

Other updates to the website include the results of a cosplay contest and 10th anniversary survey.

Arc System Works will host a live stream in celebration of the series’ 10th anniversary today at 19:00 JST, where it will look back on past 10 years with guests like Hibiki Kohaku voice actor Mitsuhiro Ichiki through a BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger exhibition match and more. You will be able to watch it on Twitch and Niconico.
