According to The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo has put out information that we can all expect a new Switch later next year. As usual, no definite, game-changing details have been put out, but one definite improvement that can be looked forward to is an improvement in the display of the system.
The current Switch model uses a lower-end Liquid Crystal Display that does not come with most display technologies that are now standard in most LCD-based smartphone screens. A huge screen overhaul may not be what Nintendo is gunning for, but it is the only definite detail revealed.
Most did expect a Switch redesign at some point, but whether 2019 is too soon or not is definitely debatable among gamers. With Nintendo having given many iterations of their handheld consoles (examples being the 3DS iterations: 3DS XL, New 3DS/XL, 2DS and the New 2DS/XL). Each most notably came with significant changes and capabilities that did not greatly affect their design overall. This allows our imaginations to run wild a bit as there is so much many would want from a new Switch model (#SwitchWishList).
Until further details drop, we will all be keeping our fingers crossed, waiting for the next big Switch.
