The Gaming community has been on fire the fast 2 days ever since the internet was smashed with what some are calling “the ultimate leak” since the birth of Super Smash Bros. (probably not though…)!
In this latest leak, the roster is supposedly expected to grow by 7 more newcomers! Namely: Shadow the Hedgehog, Banjo-Kazooie, Isaac from Golden Sun, Geno from Super Mario RPG, Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, Ken from Street Fighter and Mac Rider! This was shown in a rather popular “Everyone is Here” Smash Bros artwork posted via Snapchat story (which was later screenshot and shared online, of course), showing the already known roster, including the supposed new 7 characters.
Most leaks tend to be taken with VERY HEAVY grains of salt, bu tin this instance, a few other things come together to make this more believable than usual. What seems to be promotional material being created for Universal Picture and Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming animated movie, “The Grinch” (set to be released November 2018), can be seen in the leaked image.
The elaborately created pushed the community on edge to the point where certain organized members (such as LeakReview) conducted investigation to turn up any extra clues. And indeed, more answers were found. LeakReview managed to identify the name of the leaker, as it was displayed poorly scribbled out on some of the work documents shown in the image: Eric Bricard.
Further investigation revealed where Eric works: a French-based company ACP-PLV, known to produce promotional material for a good number of companies, gaming companies included such as BANDAI NAMCO. Eric’s LinkdIn page, which had real connections to other people in the industry, further help prove that the details surrounding this are very real.
With technology being what it is today, too much is very possible. It is hard to imagine that someone went through the trouble to completely recreate, rearrange and regroup all the characters in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster just to add 7 more characters to create hype. Though the dots seem to connect, there is surely more to be found to help us nail this hopefully before the game comes out. The only major connection remaining is to determine if ACP-PLV was indeed the company handling promotional work for Super Smash Bros specifically and if Eric even still works for them.
We’ll keep you posted here on GGN as the investigations develop.
