(Warning: The following paragraph contains spoilers for the story of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.)
“In the game’s story you can marry [redacted due to spoilers], but I thought that people would want to choose from various characters, so we’ve added that,” Horii said. “While it isn’t marriage, you can even choose Erik or Hendrik—so you can choose the person you live with.”
Producer Hokuto Okamoto supplemented Horii’s statement, adding, “You can choose the partner you live with.”
(End of spoiler.)
Square Enix also mentioned that it is preparing a surprise concerning Dragon Quest XI S for January 1, 2019.
While further information was not announced, Square Enix will host a “Dragon Quest XI Channel S” live stream featuring game designer and scenario writer Yuji Horii, producer Hokuto Okamoto, and others in January 2019. You will be able to watch it on YouTube and Niconico.
